Shark Nose at Spa
Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamp on June 18th 1961: Wolfgang von Trips drives a Ferrari 156 ‘Shark Nose’ to second place.
Three months later whilst leading the World Championship, he collided with Jim Clark's Lotus on the second lap of the Italian Grand Prix, his Ferrari flipping up into the air and slamming into the retaining fence behind which spectators were tightly packed. Von Trips and 14 race fans were killed as a result.
