JORGE GARCIA
Award Winning Artist
"My passion for automobiles and art, both of which began as a child, has carried me farther than I ever dreamed. What began 30 years ago as an entertaining game transformed into a way of life. I have enjoyed creating every piece of my artwork."
Jorge Miguel Garcia was born in Buenos Aries, Argentina in 1951. He began his professional career at age 16 in that city, working for important companies and agencies. In 1983 he began to collaborate with Road & Track, Motor 16 in Spain, and Marlboro. These paths allowed him to become an internationally recognized artist, earning commissions from corporations around the world. With Marlboro he painted The History of Formula One that is on permanent display at the J.M. Fangio Museum. Working with Road & Track, he received three Honorable Mentions and the Gold Medal Award in 1986 from the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators.
"I thought that was an honor more appropriately presented during the twilight of a career. Instead, it was only the beginning of a new stage" recalls this distinguished artist.
Garcia continues to collaborate with sports sponsors from numerous countries and with a major newspaper featuring the Argentine Automobile History and The History of Formula One. He exhibited at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California in 1997, and at the Meadow Brook Hall Concours d'Elegance in Michigan in 1995, 1998 and 2002, winning two Awards of Excellence. He also won a second prize at the Grand Prix Sportique in London.
His work is on display in corporate and museum collections in Argentina, the United States, Uruguay, Paraguay and Puerto Rico and has been published recently in Road&Track, Automobile, Motor 16, and on the cover of two issues of Sports Car Market magazine.
